Classes will focus on gentle stretching, muscle toning, balance and breathing techniques with a special focus on relaxation and learning how to self-calm. Recent research has shown that practicing yoga and meditation may slow early stages of dementia. Read more here.
Chair Yoga
For those seniors who use a wheelchair or walker, this is a great option to experience the many benefits of yoga without needing to stand or get on the mat. Students are often amazed and inspired to see how many yoga poses can be modified to staying seated in a chair.
Zumba Gold
This is a great option for an active senior who enjoys music and dancing. The dance moves are modified, lower impact versions of original Zumba choreographies. Recent research has shown that dancing can prevent the onset and/or alleviate symptoms of alzheimer’s and dementia. Read more here.
